Outreach @ LIFEGATE

Looking to get involved in volunteer and outreach opportunities at LIFEGATE? See below for our partnerships.

Our Partners

Alternatives Pregnancy Center

Alternatives requires an application and orientation in order to participate as a volunteer. They are not holding any orientations until October and are not taking applications for any of their trained volunteer positions until the new year.

Alternatives has a variety of options for hotline, client services, administrative, mentorship, medical and community engagement volunteer positions requiring training.

CarePortal

CarePortal exists to exist as a bridge between families and children in crisis and those in the community with resources to help. Caseworkers and professionals are able to share urgent needs and LIFEGATE members can be available to donate whatever may be needed (diapers, cribs, car seats etc). Jess will be organizing a room stocked with needed items at LIFEGATE and members can donate, help with organization, or transport items to families when requests come in.

An individual or couple can participate in the 24 hour training through Project 1:27 to provide overnight relief/respite care for a foster family. After completing the 24 hour training, Project 1:27 can help to connect members with an agency for licensing. This will require a home study, paperwork and background check. Total cost would be about $50-80 for those wishing to participate.

Neighbor Program2023-10-04T15:06:49+00:00

An individual, couple, or group can act as a “neighbor” to support a foster family for an initial 6-month commitment (after 6 months there is an option to continue). The neighbor would bring a meal to the family once a month that can be scheduled with the family directly. The neighbor can reach out to provide support and check in to make sure the foster family has what they need. 45-minute training and background check ($20) are required to participate in the program. Both the training and the background check are virtual.

Family Care Program2023-10-04T15:08:41+00:00

This would be a group of 6-8 people or 3-4 couples providing support to a family who has not yet had children removed from their home. They may or may not have an active CPS case (families will be located in Arapahoe County). The goal is to prevent removal and provide support by bringing meals weekly as well as a bag of groceries each month (couples and individuals can rotate weeks). An individual can volunteer and be placed in a group. Year-long commitment with a 4.5-hour training provided by Project 1:27.
